The name Aq'naton is a variation on the Pharaoh Akhenaten and is a sacred name that urged itself on Aq'naton Ben-Isha in 1997, shortly after he arrived in Sedona.

When the name first came to him through a meditative process, he resisted taking it out into the world in a public way. But a few weeks later, on New Year's Day 1998, he surrendered to the name and has used it ever since. It is now his legal name.

By ending the polytheism that had long dominated Egypt and instituting a religion that enfolded all gods into one, Akhenaten set in motion the energy of integration and oneness that we're now choosing to embody more fully than at any time in known history. Akhenaten and his wife, Nefertiti, also instituted a cultural revolution that transformed the arts in Egypt.

Ben-Isha is also part of Aq'naton's sacred name. It combines the goddess energy ("Isha" means woman in Hebrew) with the Christ consciousness frequency ("Isha" is also a name for Jesus).
